The Explorer Post is a youth oriented program that is sponsored by the Signal Hill Police Department.  The Post is "Committed to Excellence."

Members of the Explorer Post receive basic instruction in all phases of law enforcement, including crime prevention, investigation, fingerprinting, drug and narcotics recognition, first aid, Vehicle Codes, Penal Codes, juvenile crimes, truancy, and other related fields.  The basic program emphasizes good citizenship and high moral character.

Activities include training in law enforcement activities, field trips, and participation in police department functions (D.U.I. and child safety seat checkpoints).  Explorers involved in police department functions are assigned tasks that are essentially non-hazardous in nature.
