      When police assistance is needed after business hours, a direct phone line to our communications section is available with police assistance 24 hours a day, seven days a week.  Also, the public may come into the front lobby area after business hours and receive assistance from a dispatcher.

Requests for police reports are made at the front desk during normal business hours.  The person requesting the report must fill out a request form and show proof of identity.

      Vehicle releases are available seven days a week from 7:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.  Vehicles will be released to the registered owner only.  All vehicle registration fees must be current, and a valid driver's license must be presented at the time of the release.  Driver's licenses and vehicle registration status will be verified by the Signal Hill Police Department prior to releasing the vehicle.

A release must be obtained from the Signal Hill Police Department prior to the vehicle being released from the impound yard.  A fee, in cash, will be charged by the Signal Hill Police Department for all vehicle releases (see fee schedule above).

The registered owner or their agent must appear with a valid driver's license, and all vehicle registration fees must be paid in full.  If the registered owner does not possess a valid driver's license, he or she must appear with a valid DMV identification card and a licensed driver.  Persons acting as "agents" may be required to possess a power of attorney or a notarized letter authorizing the "agent" to operate on the owner's behalf.
