    Citizens' Academy   The Signal Hill Police Department is actively recruiting interested residents for the Community Volunteer Program.  If you are 21 years of age or older, we want you to join our team.

The Police Volunteer Program is committed to providing qualified volunteers to support and enhance this service.  We will tailor the Police Volunteer Program to meet the specific needs of our City.

With the active participation of concerned citizens working with the police department, the Police Volunteer Program will increase the quality of life for all those living and working in the city of Signal Hill.

            12 hours per month of volunteer time  
            Attend volunteer meetings  
       
       
      Police Volunteer Activities  
      As a police volunteer, you will learn about the police department operations as well as the justice system.  You will receive classroom training, field training, and in-service training.  
       
       
         
      Police volunteers provide support in the following areas:

Speed Watch
   Clerical Functions
   Bicycle Registration
   Fingerprinting Services

      Under a new comprehensive program, we are seeking to involve the police volunteers in nearly every area of police services.  
       
         
      Police Volunteer Value to the City of Signal Hill  
      In the past 12 months, the Police Volunteers have contributed over 6,000 hours and driven over 9,700 miles.  In total, the estimated value of the Police Volunteer Program to the City for the 12 month period is approximately $200,000.
